Official description

Develop programs to promote energy efficiency and load management technologies with an emphasis in Communities of Concern
(Full action name in the CAP)

Description

Load management programs and technologies can monitor, control, and optimize the allocation of the electrical load, which facilitates efficient electricity consumption.

Examples of these technologies include:

  • Smart grids that help manage electricity generation and distribution
  • Energy storage solutions, which consist of batteries and other storage technologies that can store excess electricity and release it during peak demand.

The City of San Diego is exploring methods to develop equitable load management technologies and other energy efficiency programs that incorporate accessibility and affordability to reach our Communities of Concern. In order to ensure equity, the City will partner with other public agencies, community-based organizations, nonprofit organizations, and the private sector to establish relationships through community engagement and develop inclusive policies and solutions that meet the needs of our communities.
