This indicator shows how total citywide electricity use is divided among energy providers each year, including SDG&E, San Diego Community Power (broken out by service plan), competitive energy providers (Direct Access), and on-site solar generation (Behind-the-Meter).
Each provider and service plan delivers a different percentage of electricity from clean, emissions-free sources. San Diego Community Power's Power100 plan, for example, delivers 100% clean electricity, while other providers and plans vary. Tracking shifts in the provider mix over time shows whether San Diego residents and businesses are collectively moving toward cleaner electricity — whether through switching providers, choosing a cleaner service plan, or installing solar panels.
