Introduction
We encourage San Diegans to try different ways of getting around the city, like walking, biking, or using public transportation instead of always driving. This can help cut down on harmful emissions. When you do need to drive, switching to a Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) instead of a gas-powered car makes a big difference.
Some of what we're doing to help ZEV adoption is to support the installation of electric vehicle charging stations, particularly in areas where residents face barriers to installing their own. Additionally, the City is developing a guide for city departments, residents, businesses, and the workforce to shift towards a zero-emissions future (see the City's ZEV Strategy). You can find more information and resources at San Diego's Zero Emissions Vehicles website.
How to explore the Actions section
Some actions are part of a sequence: completing one action may be necessary for the success of another, or may make another action easier to complete. The >> symbol on an action card indicates that it is part of a sequence. Hover over the >> symbol to see the full sequence of actions.
The color bar at the top of each action provides information about the implementation timeline.
- Gray = either the implementation timeline is not yet available, or the action is continuous (there is no completion date)
- Green = the action is proceeding on time; the color gets darker as the action nears completion
- Yellow = the action is delayed or late

Measuring Success
The indicators below show both the progress of EV adoption in San Diego and the amount of public charging infrastructure available to residents. Data for another indicator (annual vehicle miles traveled by ZEV cars and light-duty vehicles) is not yet available. Click on the indicator title for additional information.
