IMPORTANT: The City has committed to reductions in overall annual GHG emissions, not to specific reductions in any one sector. 2030 and 2035 goals shown in this graph are for illustrative purposes only.
This indicator shows the annual estimated emissions from electricity and natural gas, two of the five categories of emissions included in the City's GHG emissions total. These two categories are combined because CAP actions that lead to changes in one category can also lead to changes in the other. For example, work done to implement energy efficiency projects at City facilities may reduce gas usage but increase electricity usage as gas appliances are swapped for electric ones.
The 2030 and 2035 goals shown in the graph reflect emissions reductions the City hopes to achieve as a result of its own CAP actions and from other Federal and State actions. CAP measures that should contribute to reductions in this category include:
- 1.1 Decarbonize Existing Buildings
- 1.2 Decarbonize New Building Development
- 1.3 Decarbinize City Facilities
- 2.1 Citywide Renewable Energy Generation
